SUSTAINABLE RENOVATION:

IMPROVING HOMES FOR ENERGY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT

Are you involved in the renovation of existing buildings? This is an event aimed at everybody in the retrofit sector from Policy Makers and Development Managers in Housing organisations, to Architects, Builders, Surveyors and those simply interested in upgrading their own homes.

Scottish Government is directing large amounts of money into this sector just now in an effort to combat climate change and fuel poverty. The Pebble Trust, supported by SEDA (Scottish Ecological Design Association) and HES (Historic Environment Scotland) has seized on this timing to commission a guide to help ensure that this effort is as effective, and sustainable as possible.

The launch will feature an introduction from SEDA and contributions from HES as well as Renfrewshire Council, before the author, Chris Morgan, takes you through the ten ways in which we can ensure retrofit projects are more effective at saving energy, reduce risks to health and the building itself, engage better with people and learn lessons from our built heritage.

The work is based heavily on BPE (Building Performance Evaluation) studies in which investigators study the actual performance of buildings once built, rather than the calculated predictions routinely used, and the real experience of people within these buildings! All types of existing building are considered but the event will be of particular interest to those involved in housing.

This is a FREE event and includes refreshments.

A copy of the book will be available for FREE online from Thursday 15th November.

This is a ticketed event and we anticipate high attendance so make sure you get your ticket before the day!
